Salvation
& Rebound
There are 3 categories of sin:
1.
Mental / Thought Sins,
2.
Sins of the Tongue / Verbal Sins,
3.
Overt Sins – Including
infringement on others freedoms and liberty.
1 John 1:9, “If we confess
our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.”
God
the Father in eternity past provided for every need we would have including the
need to over come sin.
What
is that sin we need to overcome? Well, there are two categories of Sin. The First category of Sin is the Sin of
unbelief, which leaves us in spiritual depravity and condemns us to an eternity
of suffering in the
John
3:1 – 21 - Based on Adam’s original sin we are all born spiritually
dead.
Rom 5:12 – 21
12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the
world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all
sinned…..
18 “So then as through one
transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act
of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.”
Our
Salvation is guaranteed or sealed through the indwelling of the Holy
Spirit. It cannot be lost.
Mat 3:11 “As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but
He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His
sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
John 10:28 “and I give eternal life to them, and they will never
perish; and no one will snatch them out of My
hand. 29My Father, who has
given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of
the Father’s hand.”
Mat 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,”
Eph 1:13 “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of
truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in
Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,”
Jesus
Christ was the prototype “Unique Spiritual Life” by receiving the indwelling
and the resultant power of the Holy Spirit.
Mark 1:9 – 11
9 “ In those days Jesus came from
The
Apostles received the first operational type “Unique Spiritual Life” when the
Holy Spirit indwelt them on the Day of Pentecost.
Acts 2:1 – 4
1 “When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all
together in one place. 2And
suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4And
they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”
Based
on your acceptance of the efficacious work of Christ on the cross and resultant
indwelling of the Holy Spirit, your name will remain in the book of life upon
your physical exit from human life. If
you have not accepted Christ as your personal Savior, your name is removed from
the book of life and entered into the book of deeds. The Book of Deeds shows that no matter what
you did on earth, no matter how good or wonderful, it does not compare to what
Christ did on the cross, and cannot earn your salvation.
Rev 20:11 – 15
11 “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it,
from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for
them. 12And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before
the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened which is the
book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in
the books, according to their deeds. 13And
the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead
which were in them; and they were judged, every one of
them according to their deeds. 14Then
death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death,
the lake of fire. 15And if anyone’s name was not found written in
the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
But
remember your salvation is secure in Christ and the Holy Spirit.
2 Tim 2:11-13
11”It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live
with Him; 12If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny
Him, He also will deny us; 13If we are faithless, He remains
faithful; for He cannot deny Himself.”
Because we are in
Rom 8:38-39
38 "I have confidence that neither death, nor life, nor angels,
nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor
height, nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us
from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus."
The
last prepositional phrase, "in Christ Jesus," is technical for our
union with Christ by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Because we are in union with Christ, nothing
can separate us from our eternal salvation.
We can never get out of union with Christ.
Col 1:27, “to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of
the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope
of glory.”
Rom 5:1 - 6
1 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have
obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we
exult in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only this, but we also
exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4and
perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5and
hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within
our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6For while
we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.”
Jesus
Christ is eternal life. Being in union
with him means we share his life.
1 Joh 5:11-12
11 "This is the record:
God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who has the Son has [eternal]
life; he who does not have the Son does not have [eternal] life."
We
share Jesus Christ's divine righteousness, 2 Cor 5:21.
We are
accepted in Christ forever, Eph 1:6.
We
share the destiny of Christ, Eph 1:5.
We
share the heirship of Christ, Eph 1:4.
We
share the election of Christ, Rom 8:33.
We are
sanctified in Christ, 1 Cor 1:2, 30.
John 10:28-30
28 “and I give eternal life to them, and they will never
perish; and no one will snatch them out of My
hand. 29My Father, who has
given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of
the Father’s hand. 30I and
the Father are one.”
At
Salvation you are Sanctified Positionally.
Then comes our Experiential Sanctification, our
Christian Walk. And that is interrupted
or cut short by the Second category of Sin.
The sins we commit on a day-to-day basis, post salvation.
Based
on Christ’s work on the cross, and our acceptance thereof, we have been
cleansed of Adam’s original sin and all sins prior committed. God desires that all are saved, and that salvation
is based on His grace provision of sending His beloved Son to the Cross.
Eph 2:1-10
1 “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2in
which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to
the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the
sons of disobedience. 3Among them we too all formerly lived in the
lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and
were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4But God, being
rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5even
when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by
grace you have been saved), 6and raised us up with Him, and seated
us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the
ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness
toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9not as a
result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are His
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
1 Tim
2:4, “Who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
2Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count
slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all
to come to repentance.”
Post
salvation we need only cleanse our day to day sins, Titus 3:4 – 5; John 13:5
– 10; John 15:3; Heb. 9:21-10:25.
Titus 3:4 – 5
4 “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for
mankind appeared, 5He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we
have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of
regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,”
Day-to-day
sins affect our ability to produce divine good or the “Fruit of the Spirit”.
There are three types of sins: Mental /
Thought Sins - Sins of the Tongue / Verbal Sins - Overt Sins – including
infringement on others freedoms and liberty.
Producing
divine good is only accomplished through the power and the filling of the Holy
Spirit.
Gal 5:22 – 25
22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control;
against such things there is no law. 24Now those who belong to
Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”
We are
indwelt by the Holy Spirit at salvation which is a permanent indwelling.
John 14:16, “I will ask the Father, and He
will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;”
Rom 8:11, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to
your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
After
salvation, the principle is the filling of the Holy Spirit, which is temporal
and can be lost, Eph 5:18, Eph 4:30.
Eph
5:18, “And do not get drunk with wine,
for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.”
Dissipation
- ASOTIA (Noun; Nominative, Feminine, Singular)
Nominative
is the case that presents the subject of the sentence. A noun in the nominative
case is the subject or subject complement of the verb.
Dissipation
= reckless living, one that cannot be saved, an abandoned, dissolute.
American
Heritage Dictionary - Dissipation: the act of scattering. The condition of being
scattered, dispersion. Wasteful consumption or
expenditure. Dissolute
indulgence in pleasure. Intemperance. An amusement, a diversion.
Dissolute: Lacking moral restraint, abandoned, debauched.
Eph
5:18, “And do not get drunk with wine,
for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.
Filled - plerooplerousthe (Verb; Present Tense, Passive Voice,
Imperative Mood)
Present
tense: In the indicative mood it represents current action, as opposed to past
or future action. In moods other than the indicative mood, it refers only to
continuous or repeated action.
Passive
voice: Represents the subject as receiving the action of the verb. I.e. we
receive the filling of the Holy Spirit based on a continuous or repetitive
action of naming our sin to God the Father.
Imperative
mood: Indicates a command, entreaty, or an exhortation. It expresses the appeal
of one person’s will to another person, and intention rather than probability
or possibility.
(A plead to be filled by the spirit vs. living
in the cosmic {world} system.)
Eph 4:30, “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were
sealed for the day of redemption.”
The
filling of the Holy Spirit is accomplished by naming/citing our known
sins to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ in the privacy of your own
mind.
1 John 1:5 – 2:2, “confess” homolegeo
- homolegomen (Verb: Present
Tense, Active Voice, Subjunctive Mood, First Person, Plural)
confess,
admit; declare; say plainly; promise; claim.
(As one in a courtroom trial on the witness stand.)
Present
tense: It refers to the continuous or repeated action of naming our sins to God
the Father.
Active
voice: Represents action as being performed by the subject of the verb. = We are to be naming our sins to
God. No one else should do this for you.
Subjunctive
mood: Expresses the action as conceivable but not necessarily a reality. The
subjunctive is connected with some supposed or desired action.
First
Person: Identifies the speaker or the writer or the group with whom that same
individual associates. It is often translated, for example, as “I,” or “we.”
Plural:
Designates more than one of the things or persons specified. = We, So God commands us to name our sins and recover which means
turn away from the sin so that you don’t fall into that sin again.
Just
as in Salvation we are have in fact recognized our sinfulness and depravity,
turned away from it and instead turn to the way of the Son. The same has to occur in our lives every day. Turn away from the sin we will inevitably
commit by recognizing it and naming it to the Father in turning away from it.
Remember
when we pray, we pray to God the Father, In the Name of The
Lord Jesus Christ, In the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Never pray to anyone else, not Jesus,
not the Holy Spirit, and especially not and elevated human or saint, male or
female.
Eph 2:18, “for through Him (Jesus Christ) we both (Jews and
Gentiles) have our access in one Spirit (Holy Spirit) to (God) the Father.”
Jude 20, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most
holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,”
Mat 6:9, “Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your
name.”
And
when YOU do pray, don’t be ashamed of your weakness or failures. The Father knows too well about our failures
and yet has provided the greatest advocate or defense attorney imaginable, Our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Heb. 4:15-16
15 “For we do not have a high priest who
cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all
things as we are, yet without sin. 16Therefore let
us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive
mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
